Book cover showing moodily-lit dark magenta wrought iron work on a dark background. "The Uninvited" (book title), set in all caps in an Art Nouveau-style typeface, is centered on the cover. The down strokes of "N" and "T" have been extended below the baseline and sharpened to look like vampire fangs. Blood drips off them onto the ironwork. The author's name, Nancy Banks, is centered at the bottom of the image in coral-colored type. A blurb centered at the top of the cover reads "'A visceral tour through the streets of Paris with supernatural danger lurking around every corner.' —Angela Montoya, author of A Cruel Thirst."

Dracula meets stabby teenage girls in Paris.

When Tosh Reeves moves from Portland, Oregon to Paris, it’s a dream come to life. But as a series of brutal vampiric attacks creeps closer to her new circle of bohemian friends, she’ll confront the darker side of the sumptuous city, and learn how deeply monsters can strike at a young woman’s power and heart.

Praise for The Uninvited

“The story begins as a Parisian summer romp before shifting to become a creepy vampire horror story that creates a disturbingly apt parallel between vampirism and misogyny. Frightful, fun, and feminist.”

—Kirkus

“An insightful cautionary tale.”

“A tidy read for Francophiles who enjoy a paranormal bent to realistic contemporary tales.”

—Publishers Weekly

“An exciting Paris adventure dripping with atmosphere, this story is a timely punch back at the cruelty of monsters and a love letter to the fierce, incomparable strength of teenage girls.”

—Sonia Hartl, author of The Lost Girls

“A visceral tour through the streets of Paris, with supernatural danger lurking around every corner and past traumas that cannot be suppressed. The Uninvited stands as a reminder; when the world tells us to shrink back and remain afraid, we don’t have to listen.”

—Angela Montoya, author of
A Cruel Thirst

About

I've washed buses, worked in retail and in libraries, designed for print, art-directed, and co-owned a bookstore. I lived in France for several years, and I still regret that I didn't taste all the pastries.

I'm fascinated by how we use the creatures of lore
and legend to process our biggest fears.

I live in Denver with my husband and dog.
